About

Old Mill Vineyard got its start in 2005 when 400 vines were planted. Finding Kurt had a knack for growing grapes, additional plantings filled up all 10 tillable acres. We now grow 10 varieties of cold climate American and French hybrid grapes. Meticulous vineyard management practices are used to ensure our yearly harvests result in premium quality grapes.

Growing quality grapes for other wineries to purchase has always been our first priority. After successfully launching our own wine in 2014, we continue to be committed to growing and maintaining the best grapes Woodford County has to offer. Our tasting room, Bent Tree at OMV,  later opened October 2016. We may be small but ready to share all we know about Central Illinois grown grapes. Our wines are estate-grown and bottled - ready to be Uncorked so you can Unwind and enjoy Local wine!

Vineyard Master & Winemaker

Kurt spent over 30 years in the green goods business, so hard work isn't anything new to him. A relaxing retirement wasn't an option either, so he needed to grow something that doesn't require a lot of acreage. Grapes met that criteria!

A passion to beat Mother Nature keeps Kurt motivated. Growing grapes fits the challenge. Developing wine -making skills also seemed natural since he's a perfectionist who's up to achieving a perfect outcome. Our mission - to grow quality grapes and produce quality wine!
 Our Grounds
Our 10 acre vineyard is tucked away just outside Metamora, Illinois on the eastern bluff of the Illinois River. The Bent Tree tasting room is situated by a pond where many enjoy the annual geese broods, wandering wildlife and tranquil setting. The tasting room offers a small patio area with additional surrounding grassy areas that are ideal to share our space or bringing your own lawn chair to set up your own special spot so you can enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon! Enjoy a walk through the adjacent vineyard rows. We ask that no pets, unless active as a service animal, are brought to our grounds to avoid disturbing the natural surroundings or other guests. Bringing in your own food is allowed. No swimming, boating or fishing allowed on the pond.  Due to limited parking space, we are unable to accommodate buses.
